We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled Final Year Frontend Intern to join our engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to transition to a full-time position based on performance during the internship.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in product walkthroughs
• Analyze requirements by reviewing designs and user stories, ensuring a clear understanding of user experience and edge cases.
• Contribute to the planning and discussion of High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD) for allocated projects.
• Develop and maintain the frontend of assigned projects.
• Collaborate proactively with Designers, Backend Developers, and QA teams throughout the Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Understand and implement code review feedback to ensure code quality.
• Fix bugs during the QA cycle and monitor production for any anomalies or issues.
• Debug and resolve production bugs promptly.
• Contribute to the overall improvement of code quality by participating in implementing best practices and abstractions.
• Identify and implement opportunities for code optimization, upgrades, and refactoring.
• Stay updated with the latest frontend technologies and trends.
• Demonstrate high ownership and accountability for assigned projects.
• Gradually gain in-depth knowledge of the codebase and become the point of contact for the associated projects.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Knowledge of React and Redux, demonstrated through projects or past experiences.
• Proficient in JavaScript with a strong understanding of HTML and CSS.
• Experience with TypeScript is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment and learn quickly.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Commitment to writing clean, maintainable code and following coding guidelines.

We are a VC-funded startup solving one of the biggest transportation problems India faces. Most passengers in India travel long distances by IRCTC trains. At time of booking, approx 1 out of every 2 passengers end up with a Waitlisted or RAC ticket. This creates a lot of anxiety for passengers, as Railway only announces only 4 hours before departure if they have a confirmed seat. We solve this problem through our Waitlist & RAC Protection. Protection can be brought against each IRCTC ticket at time of booking. If the train ticket is not confirmed, we fly the passenger to the destination. Our team consists of 3 Founders from IIT, IIM and ISB.

Functional Experience :

• Computer Science or IT Engineering background with solid understanding of basics of Data Structures and Algorithms
• 6 months of relevant experience with Python coding
• Good knowledge of OOP’s Structural coding experience.
• Expertise in Python packages like pandas, numPy, sk-learn, matplotlib, seaborn, django, Flask, streamlit
• Able to build scikit-learn pipeline from scratch
• Good knowledge of Machine Learning and Statistical time series analysis (optional)

ML Data Engineer, Railofy

About the Team & Role:

Railofy is solving the largest problems for Indian Railway passengers (90% of Indians travel by trains) - waitlisted tickets and quality of food in trains. We are a young team of technologists who have made a significant breakthrough in this field using Machine Learning, in order to create a major impact in the lives of Indians.

ML Data Engineers at Railofy lead all the processes from data collection, cleaning, and preprocessing, to managing the infra and deploying models to production. The ideal candidate will be passionate about big data and stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the field.

The Data Science team works on proprietary data sets (tabular) building classical machine learning models & recommendation systems.

What will you get to do here?

1. Understanding and building expertise in the domain
2. Managing available resources such as hardware, data, and personnel so that deadlines are met
3. Exploring and visualizing data to gain an understanding of it, then identifying differences in data distribution that could affect performance when deploying the model in the real world
4. Verifying data quality, and/or ensuring it via data cleaning
5. Supervising the data acquisition process if more data is needed
6. Defining validation strategies
7. Defining the preprocessing or feature engineering to be done on a given dataset
8. Defining data augmentation pipelines

What qualities are we looking for?

1. Proficiency with Python and libraries for machine learning such as scikit-learn, pandas, numPy, matplotlib, seaborn and keras/tensorflow
2. Proficiency with PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, Kibana, Redis and Big Data technologies
3. Proficiency with Cloud computing on AWS using services like EC2, S3, ECS, Lambda and RDS
4. Expertise in visualizing and manipulating big datasets
5. Ability to select hardware to run an ML model with the required latency at scale
6. Computer Science or IT Engineering background with solid understanding of basics of Data Structures and Algorithms
7. 5-10 years of data science experience
8. You love coding like a hobby, strive to code in a clean and structured manner with time and space complexities in mind and are up for a challenge!
