Kochi Refinery, formerly known as Kochin Refineries, is one of India's major regional oil refiners. The company's refinery complex, originally established in 1963 with a refining capacity of 2.5 million metric tons per year, now has an annual refining throughput capacity of 7.7 million metric tons. In addition to producing gasoline, the company makes such products as diesel, kerosene and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), furnace oil, aviation turbine fuel, and bitumen. Other products include naphtha, benzene, toluene, and sulfur. National refining powerhouse Bharat Petroleum controls Kochi Refinery, which it acquired in 2006.
