As part of our growth, we’re looking for a skilled Backend Developer to join our team and help develop efficient, scalable, and secure back-end applications.

Job Summary

The Backend Developer will be responsible for server-side application logic, database management, and ensuring high performance and responsiveness of applications. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong background in back-end development, ready to work on cutting-edge projects and collaborate with front-end developers to create seamless, user-centered experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain server-side applications, ensuring security, performance, and scalability.
• Create and manage APIs, facilitating efficient communication between the client and server.
• Work with databases to design, develop, and maintain data structures that support web applications.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade software systems.
• Collaborate with front-end developers and other team members to integrate user-facing elements with server logic.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in back-end languages like Python, Java, Node.js, PHP, or Ruby.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Experience with RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL.
• Familiarity with server management and deployment (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).

Experience Requirement

• For Freshers: Candidates with relevant internships or academic projects in back-end development are encouraged to apply.
• For Experienced Candidates: A minimum of 2+ years of experience in backend development, with a proven ability to develop robust and scalable back-end solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and serverless architecture.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

We are looking for a Back-End Web Developer responsible for managing the interchange of data between the server and the users. Your primary focus will be the development of all server-side logic, definition, and maintenance of the central database, and ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front end. You will also be responsible for integrating the front-end elements built by your co-workers into the application. A basic understanding of front-end technologies is therefore necessary as well.

1K Kirana Bazaar (1K) is building Bharat's first hyperlocal offline-online distribution platform. Our aim is to provide the benefits of technology and scale to the underserved first time internet users of Bharat. We use the efficiencies of the existing kirana store network and empower them with a full technology stack to fulfill all needs of our consumers.

Over the next 2 years our goal is to transform the lives of millions of new age consumers of Bharat and at the same time make the lives of thousands of retailers more fulfilling! What will you be driving with the team?

To build full-stack solutions for retail & supply chain from managing purchases to selling products to end consumers. You will work on solving some of the complex problems of the retail industry.

Your core responsibilities:

• Solve complex problems and follow good coding practices and complying with existing quality standards.
• Evaluate existing engineering processes and recommend improvements.
• Setup high-quality standards in production running code by performing diligent code reviews and rigorous unit test coverage.
• Brainstorm (sometimes, even prototype) features with the rest of the team based on your knowledge of the codebase.
• And of course, there's always bugs to fix, based on your personal experience or feedback from the team and the 1K community.

What will help you thrive in this role? 

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
• 6 month+ experience in software development.
• Knowledge of programming languages.
• Should possess a solid grasp of object-oriented programming, data structures, and software design.
• Experience with AWS infrastructure and distributed systems is a plus.
• Highly developed attention to detail.
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Develop server-side components, REST APIs
• Assume ownership for existing and new modules including design, development, and unit testing for enhancements of existing modules and development of new modules.
• Analyse problems logically and exercise sound judgment in defining, evaluating, and solving difficult technical and operational problems where solutions may be of a precedent-establishing nature.
• Lead the design and architectural improvements
• Participate and collaborate with team members in design discussions, determines areas of complexity, potential risks to successful implementation, suggest enhancements to architecture, implement POCs, and enhance application.
• Reduce technical debt with quality coding

Requirements:

• A solid grounding in Computer Science fundamentals (based on a BS or MS in CS or related field) from IITs and Premier Engineering College.
• Excellent Object Orientation, coupled with excellent problem solving and debugging skills.
• Highly skilled at Java and related technologies, including Java Frameworks like Spring-boot or Drop wizard, RESTful web services, JSON, Servlet, JSP, MySQL, MongoDB, Kafka, AWS Solr.
• Must have hands-on experience in building scalable and secure back end systems.
• Have hands-on experience with systems that are asynchronous, RESTful and demand concurrency
• Good to have knowledge of best software engineering practices for all stages of the software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, testing, deployment.
