About the job

• Design and implement robust backend systems and APIs using Java or similar backend language and Spring Boot or equivalent frameworks
• Integrate backend services with existing custom ERP systems 
• Work closely with the founder on product architecture, feature prioritization, and go-to-market feedback
• Take full ownership of features — from system design and development to deployment and iterative improvements
• Help shape our engineering culture and technical foundations

You're a Great Fit If You:

• Have 3+ years of experience in backend development
• Are strong in Java or similar languages (e.g., Kotlin, Go, Node.js)
• Have solid experience with Spring Boot or equivalent backend frameworks
• Have integrated with ERP or enterprise systems in production environments
• Are comfortable with both SQL (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB)
• Understand REST API development, authentication, Docker

• Discussing the project aims with the company requirement and development team.
• Designing and building web applications using Laravel.
• Troubleshooting issues in the implementation and debug builds.
• Working with front-end and back-end developers on projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Rewrite existing APIs in NodeJS.
• Remodel the APIs into Micro services-based architecture.
• Implement a caching layer wherever possible.
• Optimize the API for high performance and scalability.
• Write unit tests for API Testing.
• Automate the code testing and deployment process.

Skills Required:

1. At least 2.5 years of experience developing Backends using NodeJS — should be well versed with its asynchronous nature & event loop, and know its quirks and workarounds.
2. Excellent hands-on experience using MySQL or any other SQL Database.
3. Good knowledge of MongoDB or any other NoSQL Database.
4. Good knowledge of Redis, its data types, and their use cases.
5. Experience with graph-based databases like GraphQL and Neo4j.
6. Experience developing and deploying REST APIs.
7. Good knowledge of Unit Testing and available Test Frameworks.
8. Good understanding of advanced JS libraries and frameworks.
9. Experience with Web sockets, Service Workers, and Web Push Notifications.
10. Familiar with NodeJS profiling tools.
11. Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git.
12. Good knowledge of creating and maintaining DevOps infrastructure on cloud platforms.
13. Should be a fast learner and a go-getter — without any fear of trying out new things Preferences.
14. Experience building a large-scale social or location-based app.

Desired Candidate Profile

a. Expert in Core PHP & OOP Concepts

b. Medium in Mysql DB

c. Expert in HTML & JS/Jquery

d. Knowledge on CSS id preferred

e. Experience on any one of the MVC framework is mandatory

Job Description

• Design & implement backend APIs at Locus.sh
• Mentor junior developers technically.
• Actively work to reduce tech debt in the Locus backend
• Work towards more stability & scalability of the backend
• Tech stack - Java, AWS, Aurora etc.

Eligibility

• 4-8 years of product company experience
• OOP implementation experience. Programming language does not matter, We use Java internally but have hired folks from non Java background.
• Hands on experience in SQL, Dynamo DB, Postgres etc preferred.
• Prior experience building REST APIs
• Advanced understanding of AWS stack
• Prior knowledge of solving problems at scale.
