Senior Software Engineer – Retail Platforms (GCP | Java/Kotlin | MongoDB)

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to build and scale next-generation

retail and eCommerce platforms. The role focuses on developing cloud-native, high-

performance backend systems that power customer journeys, order management,

product catalogue, and real-time retail operations.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java/Kotlin, and MongoDB, along

with experience in GCP, React JS and high-scale, customer-facing applications.

Key Responsibilities

 Design and develop scalable backend systems for eCommerce platforms

 Ensure high availability and low latency for retail workloads

 Enable auto-scaling and high-availability architectures for peak retail

traffic

 Develop and manage microservices architecture for modular retail systems

Required Skills & Qualifications

 4–8 years of experience in backend development

 Strong proficiency in Java and Kotlin.

 Knowledge in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) , React JS and MongoDB /

NoSQL databases (Preferred).

 Experience in eCommerce or retail platforms .

 Strong understanding of microservices and event-driven architecture.

 Experience with REST APIs and distributed systems.

 Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines .

 Understanding of retail analytics and customer behaviour .

 Write clean, maintainable, and testable code

 Ensure adherence to security and data protection standards

DevOps & Release Engineering

 Implement CI/CD pipelines for faster releases

 Use Docker and Kubernetes for containerized deployments

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

You'll work closely with our team to implement best practices, improve our architecture, and create a high-performance engineering culture. Over a 6–9-month period, you'll also immerse yourself in game development, Unity, and C# to become a well-rounded technical leader in the gaming space.

• Drive maximum development velocity through direct involvement in development sprints, ensuring developers work as efficiently and effectively as possible.
• Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
• Drive architectural decisions that ensure scalable, maintainable, and high-performance game products.
• Foster a high-performance engineering culture aligned with ambitious goals, accountability, and proactive problem-solving.
• Implement and enforce engineering best practices (e.g., code reviews, testing, documentation) and the adoption of new tools, technologies including AI, and methodologies to optimize team efficiency.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with at least 3+ years in a technical leadership role
• Ability to reasonably estimate and plan tasks and features.
• Strong programming fundamentals and hands-on coding abilities
• Strong grasp of software architecture, TDD, code reviews, and clean coding principles.
• Proficient at profiling games to identify bottlenecks and performance issues.
• Experience building complex, scalable software systems
• Proven track record of driving architectural decisions and technical excellence
• Experience mentoring and developing engineering talent
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex technical concepts

Must Have

• NodeJS / TypeScript experience 3+ years
• AWS experience 3+ years using AWS SDK
• Lamba
• API Gateway
• Event based architecture like Kinesis, MSK (Kafka)

Should have experience in Device Provisioning / Device management with PKI (Public Key Infrastructure)

Requirements:

 Strong development skills in Core / Advanced Java, and J2EE.

 Knowledge of Bamboo, Jira, Spring AOP, Junit, SQL query optimization and fine tuning, is a

plus.

 Strong analytical skills.

 Good in Design Patterns.

 Should have experience on JMS/Messaging and middleware like IBM MQ/Apache Kafka.

 Strong in design and technical documentation.

 Strong in Java SDK 1.8, Java SDK 11, Spring Boot (Embedded Tomcat), REST & SOAP API skills.

 Strong in Spring frameworks (MVC, IOC, Boot, Batch) and ORM framework like Hibernate.

 Hands-on experience in SQL.

 Core Java, J2EE, SOA based Web Services, RESTful Web Services, Hibernate, Spring MVC,

XSD, XML and WSDL, DB, Microservices.

 Understanding of Kafka and Netflix conductor.

 Should have worked with Maven/Gradle, JIRA/Rally, Bamboo/Jenkins/Hudson.

 Extensive development experience with Web Services (SOAP and REST).

• Experience with Hibernate and Spring.
•   Experience with Springboot, spring MVC
• Experience with all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle, including system analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging and documentation
