About the role

We’re seeking a highly experienced and passionate Senior Java Platform Engineer to join our

team. You’ll play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining the robust, scalable

platform services that underpin our core financial applications.

This role demands a deep understanding of core Java principles, a proven track record of

building high-performance APIs, and extensive experience in the financial services industry.

What you’ll do

Design & development

– Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable, and reliable platform services in

Java.

– Build and consume RESTful APIs and other web services.

– Write clean, well-documented, testable code, and contribute to code reviews and quality.

Platform engineering

– Contribute to the architecture and design of our platform services.

– Optimize platform performance and scalability and troubleshoot complex technical issues.

– Ensure the security and reliability of the platform.

Data management

– Work across SQL and NoSQL databases.

– Design efficient data access patterns and apply sound data modelling principles.

Financial services expertise

– Apply deep knowledge of financial industry practices, regulations, data, and systems.

– Work with sensitive financial data structures, with the care that requires.

Automation & workflow– Use Python for scripting and automation tasks.

– Apply (or build) exposure to Apache Airflow or similar tools for data pipelines and

scheduling.

Collaboration & communication

– Collaborate with cross-functional teams — product managers, QA engineers, and

developers.

– Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

– Mentor junior engineers.

What you’ll bring

– Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science or a related field.

– 8+ years of experience in core Java development.

– Extensive experience building and maintaining platform services.

– Strong grasp of object-oriented programming principles and design patterns.

– Proven experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.

– Deep knowledge of concurrency, multithreading, and performance optimization.

– Hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.

– Significant experience within the financial services industry.

– Exposure to Python for scripting and automation.

– Exposure to Apache Airflow or similar workflow management tools.

– Excellent problem-solving, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.

– Experience with Agile development methodologies.

Job Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software applications using Java and Spring Boot.

Develop and maintain RESTful APIs to support various business requirements.

Write and execute unit tests using TestNG to ensure code quality and reliability.

Work with NoSQL databases to design and implement data storage solutions.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Utilize Git for version control and collaborate with team members on code reviews and merge requests.

Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and issues in a timely manner.

Continuously improve software development processes and practices.

Description:

8 years of professional experience in backend development using Java and leading a team.

Strong expertise in Spring Boot, Apache Camel, Hibernate, JPA, and REST API design

Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or other SQL-based databases

Working knowledge of AWS cloud services (EC2, S3, RDS, etc.)

Experience in DevOps activities.

Proficiency in using Docker for containerization and deployment.

Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, multithreading, and performance tuning

• Design, implementation, and deployment of successful LOS/LMS system features and services in support of our lending operations and the businesses they support

Responsibilities:

• Engage directly with customers to design, develop, and deploy AI enterprise applications on the 
• Become an expert in application design and development on the ; lead design and code reviews of end-to-end customer applications
• Perform enhancement, testing, and troubleshooting, of applications with and on behalf of customers
• Continuously identify technical risks and gaps; devise mitigation strategies in anticipation of customer needs

 Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) field
• 3+ years professional experience in a customer-facing role building enterprise cloud software applications
• Solid understanding of cloud computing concepts
• Solid understanding of databases types and trade-offs
• Demonstrated proficiency in Java and/or similar programming languages
• Working knowledge of Agile software development methodology
• Strong analytical ability and problem-solving techniques
• Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team

 Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent field; graduate degree in complimentary STEM or Business field
• Experience building and deploying AI-based enterprise applications
• Solid understanding of common machine learning techniques, applications, and trade-offs
• Demonstrated proficiency in javascript and/or similar programming language
• Domain expertise in one or more of the following industries: Aerospace, Financial Services, Healthcare, Industrial Manufacturing, Oil & Gas, Public Sector, Power & Utilities, Supply Chain, Telecommunications
• Proficiency in time series analysis, data cleansing, and data normalization

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience with Java platform and technologies.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with HTML5, CSS and Angular.
• Experience with enterprise level application design and development is a must.
• Expert level knowledge in Java Spring framework, JHipster, PostgreSQL, HTML5, Angular, CSS
• Must have previously worked in an environment using version control systems such as Bitbucket.
• Good knowledge of RDBMS such as Postgres and MySQL. Should be proficient in SQL and assessing performance of queries. Some ability to monitor and maintain the database is needed.
• Experience with AWS RDS is MUST.
• Minimum 3 years of experience deploying Java applications on the AWS cloud.
• Ability to handle front-end development (Angular JS) is a MUST.
• Experience working with Monday, Atlassian project management tools (JIRA/Bitbucket/Confluence) or similar is a must.
