About the Role

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software and new user-facing

features across Novo’s products and services

• Drive technical decisions on a multi-functional, Agile team alongside product

management, product design, and engineering

• Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability and analyze feedback from

customers and internal teams to identify issues and improvement opportunities.

• Champion a passion for engineering best practices such as code quality, linting, and

testing

• Ensure our software is reliable, extensible, maintainable, debuggable, secure, well-

tested and performs well under load

• Mentor junior engineers in all aspects of planning, development and testing

Requirements for the Role

• 3+ years experience in a highly technical role at hyper-growth startup or fast-paced

company

• Extensive background designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and

improving software

• Good understanding of Node.js & Javascript.

• Strong understanding of SQL database.

• Demonstrable experience architecting scalable and cost effective solutions to ensure

and support the customer growth

• Experience mentoring junior engineers in all aspects of planning, development and

testing

• Demonstrated ability to translate business goals and initiatives into technical

requirements

• Strong understanding of system design and architecture.

• Interest in engaging with latest technologies and evaluating strategies to keep the

Novo technology stack up to date

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate with

both technical and non-technical teams effectively.

• Ensure given tasks are delivered within a given timeline along with test cases.

• Ensure code should follow guidelines & standards set by the company.

Nice To Have, but Not Required:

• Experience with Go programming language

• Experience with AWS

• Ability to work in an existing codebase and collaborate with a diverse team
• Experience in building enterprise-scale backend REST APIs with frameworks such as Nest.js & Express.js using an API-first paradigm
• Intimate knowledge of crafting highly performant database queries
• Hands-on experience implementing relational database structures, including tables, indexes, views, etc.
• A mindset towards building systems for the cloud and DevOps fundamentals
• Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure services is good to have. If not then willingness to learn should be there.
• Focus towards building security, performance, and scalability into services from the beginning
• Experience with debugging code and troubleshooting technical issues in order to craft appropriate solutions
• Strong proficiency with JavaScript
• Experience in creating and deploying cloud-based web applications.
• Good at Jade, EJS,
• Good at CSS preprocessors (such as Stylus, Less, etc depending on your technology stack)
• Front-end technologies, such as HTML5, and CSS3
• User authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments
• Integration of multiple data sources and databases into one system
• Understanding differences between multiple delivery platforms, such as mobile vs. desktop
• Creating database schemas that represent and support business processes
• Implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
• Experience with Node.js using web server-based frameworks such as Express.
• PLUS - experience with React.JS, React Native, vue.js javascript framework * Experience with Amazon Web Services
• PLUS - experience with Jenkins or other Continuous Integration tools

As a Software Engineer, you will build and scale Clockwork, creating an engaging experience for our users. As one of the first few engineers, you will work on 0 to 1 type projects, partnering closely with our product, design and business teams to build the future of Clockwork.

• Write, test and deploy code to enhance our product

• 3+ years of professional experience as a software engineer
• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferably in CS, or equivalent experience
• Solid engineering, coding and problem solving skills
• Strong product/business sense
• Excited about working in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment

EXPERIENCE: 7 to 9 years in Java 2 Enterprise server side development. Must have applied knowledge of design patterns needed for building REST APIs and services for performance and scale.

SKILLS:

- Problem Solving and application of Object Oriented principles to development

- REST API development using Java, JAX-RPC,

- Server side development using Java, Spring Boot, Node.js

- Concurrent programming with Java

- Database programming in SQL with Oracle, MySQL or other RDBMs.

- Deployment to AWS and Kubernetes and building with Maven

- Affinity towards server side development

- Ability to understand existing code and re-engineer/re-factor/redesign.

- Written and spoken English communication and articulation.

NICE TO HAVE:

 - Working knowledge of GO Lang and Python scripting

- AWS Certifications

- Working knowledge of Elastic Search based persistence and search

- Secure coding practices

EDUCATION: Bachelor or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Information Technology or related disciplines.
