Role Overview

We’re seeking a passionate Backend Developer to join our fast-paced team in Bangalore and help build and scale the core systems powering Pepsales. In this full-time, on-site role, you’ll work on high-impact features that directly influence product innovation, customer success, and business growth. 

You’ll collaborate closely with the founding team and leadership, gaining end-to-end ownership and the chance to bring bold, innovative ideas to life in a rapidly scaling startup environment

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems and microservices.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code in Python.
• Build and optimize RESTful APIs and WebSocket services for high performance.
• Manage and optimize MongoDB databases for speed and scalability.
• Deploy and maintain containerized applications using Docker.
• Work extensively with AWS services (EC2, ALB, S3, Route 53) for robust cloud infrastructure.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for smooth and automated deployments.
• Collaborate closely with frontend engineers, product managers, and leadership on architecture and feature planning.
• Participate in sprint planning, technical discussions, and code reviews.
• Take full ownership of features, embracing uncertainty with a problem-solving mindset.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 2–7 years of backend development experience with a proven track record of building scalable systems.
• Strong proficiency in Python and its ecosystem.
• Hands-on experience with MongoDB, Docker, and Microservice Architecture.
• Practical experience with AWS services (EC2, ALB, S3, Route 53).
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and deployment best practices.
• Strong understanding of REST API design principles and WebSocket communication.
• Excellent knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and performance optimization.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop large scale web applications using Node.js; 
• Full-cycle projects and product development; 
• Focus on software development and build Restful API's; 
• Contribute to the overall software development life-cycle including requirements gathering, analysis, design, development, release/version control, testing, deployment, and support;

• Experienced in automated deployment tools such Continuous Integration (Azure DevOps/Git).
• Excellent debugging skills; able to debug complex technical issues involving multiple system components. Good to have knowledge on online & offline sync capabilities in Progressive Web Application (PWA) implementation.
• Knowledge on Azure DevOps is optional.
• Knowledge on INFORM, WARN and ERROR logging in Azure Application Insights, error handling, access authorization, data connectivity in C# is mandatory.
• Knowledge on publisher/subscriber queueing such as RabbitMQ.
• All C# code must contain descriptive comments to functions, or complex/nested loops, if, or case statements.
• Knowledge on NetSuite is an advantage.
• Knowledge on Azure Active Directory is an advantage. Knowledge on OAuth 2.0 & JWT Tokens is mandatory. Writing high-level design and technical analysis documents.
• Should have worked on Agile framework

1. Strong Experience on. NET Core, . NET Microservices, C# 5.0 Xunit - Unit Test Framework - C#, Entity Framework/Entity Framework and RESTful Design, Redis
2. Experience with SQL Server 2012 & above
3. Should be well versed with RabbitMQ
4. Knowledge on Azure Active Directory, Application Insights, Azure Devops/Git/Bitbucket Pipeline, Serverless / Azure functions, Azure Service Fabric / Functions
5. Hands-on JWT Tokens, API Authorization, OAuth 2.0 JSON or XML
6. Exposure to NetSuite, Workato will be an added advantage

• 2+ years of experience on Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate in medium to large-scale projects
• Must have experience with at least some flavours of both SQL (MySQL, Postgres) and NoSQL (Kafka, MongoDB, ElasticSearch, NoSQL distributed cache system, DynamoDB etc), datastores in production
• Must have experience with Kafka or similar message queue systems in production
• Stellar problem solving skills
• Hunger to learn new things and ability to grasp new concepts quickly
• Ability to move quickly without breaking things too much (we are dreamers)
• Ability to work under immense pressure which is balanced by a sense of responsibility and ownership
• Should be able to groom juniors and take them to the next level

1. Full Stack developer (.Net): (experience 3 to 6 years) 

• Experience in designing multithreaded/concurrent/distributed systems.
• Experience in .Net framework and C# programming is required (3+ years).
• Experience in working on scalable non-blocking server side frameworks like Spring stack(2+ years)
• Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases, Message brokers. ex: Postgres/MySQL, MongoDB/DynamoDB/Redis/Neo4j, Kafka (2 +years)
• Experience in Front end language and frameworks. JavaScript, must be an expert in one of the front end frameworks (ex: React) (2+)
• Understand cloud technologies and should have deployed applications or products in popular cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, MS Azure, etc (2+ years).

Optional:

• Experience with BigData is a big plus
• Knowledge of functional programming principles is a plus.
• Experience in HTML5 and CSS3

Strategy, planning, and design:

• Take end-to-end ownership of the product, identify technology requirements, define the future product vision, create preliminary design concepts for add-on modules and shape overall technology and product roadmap by collaborating with the founders, business development, and marketing team.
• Ensure user oriented design is the primary approach to product development across multiple screens, based on user behaviour data and direct customer feedback.

Implementation and deployment:

• Manage Product Release, QA cycles, feature implementation and on time delivery through in-house team and vendors.
• Collaborate with team and customers to define use cases.
• Creation of wireframes/prototypes, site maps and user-flows for web and mobile platforms.

Operational management :

• Support marketing by implementing technical requirements for SEO/product analytics.
• Establish and supervise a quality assurance process, including integration & system testing.
• Rigorously monitor key performance metrics and coordinate with various teams to take corrective actions if needed.
• Establish and forecast ROI of features and succinctly articulate competitive advantage.
• Set-up data collection and analysis system in collaboration with CEO to track key performance.

Personal Requirements:

• Min of 7+ years of Hands on experience in Web app development, payment gateways implementation, architecture design, product management, databases and UI/UX in consumer facing applications.
• Experience on projects involving engineering and algorithmic functions, machine learning, deep learning and artificial intelligence is very advantageous.
• Creative self-starter who is comfortable with both taking initiative and working in teams.
• Strong communication skills.
