Backend Developer (Senior)

We’re looking for a passionate Backend Developer Intern who’s eager to learn and build a strong career in web development.

This is a 3-6 month internship where you’ll work on real, design-focused projects. You’ll have the opportunity to learn, grow, and make an impact in a collaborative environment.

What you'll do:

·         Perform complex application programming activities with an emphasis on mobile development:  Angular, Node, TypeScript, JavaScript, Apache Cordova, RESTful APIs and more

·         Assist in the definition of system architecture and detailed solution design that are scalable and extensible

·         Collaborate with Product Owners, Designers, and other engineers on different permutations to find the best solution possible

·         Own the quality of code and do your own testing. Automate feature testing and contribute UI testing framework

·         Become a subject matter expert for our mobile applications

·         Deliver amazing solutions to production that knock everyone’s socks off

·         Mentor junior developers on the team

Basic Qualifications: 

·         Minimum B.S. / M.S. Computer Science or related discipline from accredited college or University

·         At least 6 years of experience designing, developing, and delivering web applications with Angular, Node, Typescript, IONIC and JavaScript

·         At least 2 years of experience building iOS-based applications utilizing hybrid technologies

·         At least 2 years of experience with AWS and/or Openshift

·         Experience integrating with native device API’s (iOS)

·         Experience with front-end and/or mobile-specific testing frameworks

·         Strong experience in object-oriented design and development

·         Knowledge of building and consuming RESTful APIs

·         Excellent sense of web design, passionate about creating and refining great mobile user experiences.

·         Ability to manage multiple tasks and consistently meet established timelines   

·         Strong collaboration skills

·         Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Proficient with Apache Cordova framework

·         Built or maintained custom Cordova plugin

• Demonstrable knowledge of native coding background in iOS

·         Understanding of Apple certificate and profile management

·         Experience developing and deploying applications within Kubernetes based containers

·         Experience in Agile and SCRUM development techniques

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Node.js or Python, or Java.

2. Build and implement scalable and robust microservices and integrate API gateways.

3. Develop and optimize NoSQL database structures and queries (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB).

4. Implement real-time data pipelines using Kafka.

5. Collaborate with front-end developers to ensure seamless integration of backend services.

6. Write clean, reusable, and efficient code following best practices, including design patterns.

7. Troubleshoot, debug, and enhance existing systems for improved performance.

Mandatory Skills:

1. Proficiency in at least one backend technology: Node.js or Python, or Java.

2. Strong experience in:

i. Microservices architecture,

ii. API gateways,

iii. NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB),

iv. Kafka

v. Data structures (e.g., arrays, linked lists, trees).

3. Frameworks:

i. If Java : Spring framework for backend development.

ii. If Python: FastAPI/Django frameworks for AI applications.

iii. If Node: Express.js for Node.js development.

Good to Have Skills:

1. Experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration.

2. Familiarity with in-memory databases like Redis or Memcached.

3. Frontend skills: Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or frameworks like React.js.

JD - Senior Dev with more than 5 years relevant experience

1. Working experience on web development using Python/Django
2. Comfortable with using Django framework.
3. Understanding of web servers
4. Knowledge in PostgreSQL, MySQL, and other database queries
5. Experience in using Redis cache.
6. Understanding of web technologies
7. Experience in REST API development using Django.
8. Strong hold on Apache
9. Integration of data storage solutions
10. Able to integrate multiple data sources and databases into one system
11. Understanding of JavaScript, and front-end JS frameworks like VueJS, React JS and Angular JS
12. Good communication skill
13. .net/.NET core will be an added advantage
