Backend Developer

Role overview

1) Overall 5 to 7 years of experience. Node.js experience is must.

2) At least 3+ years of experience or couple of large-scale products delivered on microservices.

3) Strong design skills on microservices and AWS platform infrastructure.

4) Excellent programming skill in Python, Node.js and Java.

5) Hands on development in rest API’s.

6) Good understanding of nuances of distributed systems, scalability, and availability.

A backend developer is an engineer who can handle all the work of databases, servers,

systems engineering, and clients. Depending on the project, what customers need may

be a mobile stack, a Web stack, or a native application stack.

You will be responsible for:

 Build reusable code and libraries for future use.

 Own & build new modules/features end-to-end independently.

 Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.

Required Skills :

 Thorough understanding of Node.js and Typescript.

 Excellence in at least one framework like strongloop loopback, express.js, sail.js, etc.

 Basic architectural understanding of modern day web applications

 Diligence for coding standards

 Must be good with git and git workflow

 Experience of external integrations is a plus

 Working knowledge of AWS or GCP or Azure - Expertise with linux based systems

 Experience with CI/CD tools like jenkins is a plus.

 Experience with testing and automation frameworks.

 Extensive understanding of RDBMS systems

• Develop, test, and maintain server-side applications using Node.js and related technologies.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs and microservices architecture to support frontend functionality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
• Optimize application performance, ensuring scalability and reliability.
• Conduct code reviews, mentor junior developers, and ensure adherence to best practices.
• Stay updated with emerging backend technologies and methodologies to improve development processes.

Mandatory

• SaaS experience of 2 years with total development experience of 4 years
• Must have worked in a smaller company of less than 100
• Should have built solutions/softwares end to end and not just as a part of bigger team
• Should see themselves going deeper into the same role even 5 years down the line
• Should have knowledge on Node.js, MongoDB, and AWS
• Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, event-driven architecture, and Node.js design patterns.
• Proficiency in working with databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or MySQL.
• Experience with API development, including RESTful services and microservices.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex server-side issues.

Essential

• Proficiency with version control systems like Git.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Knowledge of system design and scalable architecture.
• Understanding of security best practices and implementing secure APIs.

Good to Have

• Experience with GraphQL and related backend technologies.
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with message brokers like RabbitMQ or Kafka.
• Experience with platforms like Shopify, BigCommerce, or other e-commerce technologies.
• Exposure to frontend technologies such as React for better cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities:

• The candidate will get an opportunity to work on AI/ML technologies using NodeJS for web applications.
• Deliver high-quality code in a fast-paced customer-facing product.
• Specify, design, and implement the functionality and behaviors of the web infrastructure.
• Be involved in the full life-cycle of development from concept through integration, test, and high web traffic deployments.
• Interface with the firmware team as well as clients and end-users of the products.
• API development using REST JSON/XML, and security standards like OAuth.

Requirements:

• BTech or MTech in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other similar majors.
• Experience building products with full-stack technologies, and an excellent understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms.
• Must have experience in version control systems like GIT.
• Strong in NodeJS, MySQL, MongoDB, Kafka, Elasticsearch.

Preferred Skills: 

We want to really emphasize Spring Boot (2+ years although 1+ if candidate particularly strong) Using Redis as a caching technology with Spring Boot would be a strong plus 

Using Redisson (a particular java client library that can be easily configured with Spring Boot) would be a strong plus 

Knowledge of event based messaging systems (Amazon SNS, Amazon MQ, or Kafka (in AWS) Data Cleaning tools and techniques in CSV and Excel 

Strong Knowledge of Spring Boot Dependency Injection and Configuration 

Experience with APIs for popular e-commerce platforms (Magento, Shopify, Big Commerce, etc.) 

SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle) Tools in the context of AWS. (Tools classified under DevOps) 

Experience with managing AWS EC2 VM instances and using AWS managed Services (like S3, MySQL, VPC/Networking, Lambda, etc) 

Performance Analysis Tools (Code Profiling) on Java VM and particularly Spring Boot 

Nice to Have: 

Experience with Cassandra or MongoDB with Spring Boot 

Horizontal Scaling with Spring Boot (considerations running multiple instances of Spring Boot instances) 

Experience with placing Spring Boot applications in Docker/Kubernetes container ecosystems (especially in AWS) 

Responsibilities:

• Resolve complex technical issues and make design decisions to meet the critical requirements of scalable, highly available, multi-tenant enablement of services in the cloud.
• Independently investigate, present options, review and implement completely new functionality OR re-architect an existing solution to meet growing needs
• You will work closely with other development teams, product management, UX, and QA to define and implement a new product offering while ensuring continued functionality.
• Work with various external (application) teams to integrate with the product and help guide the integration.
• You will implement solutions that include database schema, business logic, and some presentation layer work.
• You will use existing methods and best practices in the software industry to create features and platforms with the highest levels of security, reliability, efficiency, and scalability.
• Experience mentoring senior developers.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of experience in software development experience with a proven track record of making technical decisions
• 8+ years of experience in coding in more than one programming language, e.g. Python, GoLang, node.js, etc
• Intimate working understanding of modern web applications from the database to browser
• Intimate understanding of MongoDB and extensive experience with database-driven applications
• Great problem-solving skills and ability to abstract functional requirements
• Excellent communicator in both technical and non-technical contexts
• Experience designing and improving complex software applications
• Experience coaching and mentoring developers at various levels of experience
• You have a sound understanding of programming fundamentals & their application to highly scalable web-based systems.
• You have successfully led a small agile team.
