A Tool Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and improving tools, jigs, fixtures, dies, molds, and gauges used in manufacturing processes. The role involves ensuring product quality, productivity, and cost-effective production through efficient tooling solutions

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop tools, dies, molds, jigs, fixtures, and gauges as per customer requirements. 

• Prepare 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software. 

• Conduct feasibility studies and design reviews for new tooling projects. 

• Coordinate with production, quality, and maintenance teams during tool development. 

• Optimize existing tool designs to improve productivity and reduce costs. 

• Support tool trials, modifications, and troubleshooting activities. 

• Ensure tooling designs comply with manufacturing standards and safety requirements. 

• Prepare BOM (Bill of Materials) and technical documentation. 

• Monitor tool performance and recommend improvements. 

• Work closely with vendors for tool manufacturing and procurement. 

Required Skills:

• Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, CATIA, Creo, NX, SolidWorks, or Inventor. 

• Knowledge of tool design principles, GD&T, and engineering drawings. 

• Understanding of machining processes, sheet metal, casting, forging, and plastic molding. 

• Knowledge of press tools, injection molds, jigs, fixtures, and gauges. 

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. 

• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
