Roles & Responsibilities:

The Cybersecurity & Technology Controls the firm's cybersecurity, access management, controls, and resiliency teams. The team under the group focuses on cybersecurity in Public Clouds. We proactively and strategically partners with all lines of business and functions to enable them to design, adopt and integrate appropriate controls; deliver processes and solutions efficiently and consistently; and drive automation of controls in Public Cloud Environments.

As a Cloud Security Software Engineer, you will help build solutions relating to Cloud Environment Governance and Protection, Auditing, Monitoring, Remediation and Reporting. You will help develop software solutions to ensure a secure Public Cloud environment and implement sufficient controls to safeguard and protect resources in Public Clouds.

 Job Responsibilities:

• Engage and improve the whole lifecycle of services - from inception and design through deployment, operation and refinement
• Develop and build solutions relating to Cloud Environment Governance and Protection, Auditing, Monitoring, Remediation and Reporting
• Design, develop and improve services to scale as the firm's cloud usage grows
• Develop, test, deploy, maintain and enhance software/tooling solutions
• Manage individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverables
• Perform system design and code reviews
• Proactive advocate for engineering excellency and operation excellency
• Leading stakeholder interactions and mentoring more junior engineers 

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills:

• Formal training or certification on Public Cloud environment concepts and proficient advanced experience
• Strong experience in developing and architecting cloud-native applications with AWS services.
• Proficiency and hands-on experience in AWS services, including Lambda, SQS, DynamoDB, EKS, etc
• Practical exposure with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions such as Terraform and CloudFormation
• Experience in developing enterprise software and proficiency in multiple languages, preferably Python
• CI/CD experience utilizing tools such as Github, Jenkins etc.
• Experience with development methodologies, e.g. Agile
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to conceptualize, design, validate and implement creative solutions to complex technical issues
• Demonstrated ability to quickly and proficiently understand new architectures and designs
• Ability to analyze system metrics and other types of data to draw insightful conclusions
• Forward thinker with the ability to make current decisions that prevent future tech debt or inhabiting long-term development
• Effective communicator on technical design ideas to stakeholders to get buy-in
• Work independently and collaborate within a team to develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills:

• Savvy Cybersecurity knowledge
• Experience with Azure, GCP or other Public Cloud environments is a plus.
• Cloud Certifications including AWS Developer Associate, AWS Solutions

Key Responsibilities:

1. Database Administration: Manage, monitor, and maintain PostgreSQL database systems to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security.

2. Performance Tuning: Proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks and optimize SQL queries and database configurations for improved efficiency.

3. Backup and Recovery: Develop and implement robust backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data integrity and minimize downtime in case of system failures.

4. High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Design, implement, and manage high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions, such as replication, clustering, and failover mechanisms.

5. Security: Implement and enforce security policies and access controls to protect sensitive data against unauthorized access, data breaches, and other security threats.

6. Capacity Planning: Monitor database growth trends and plan for future capacity requirements by scaling resources and infrastructure as needed.

7. Automation and Scripting: Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline database administration tasks, deployments, and maintenance processes.

8. Database Upgrades and Patching: Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, and migrations in coordination with the development and operations teams to ensure minimal disruption to business operations.

9. Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and best practices for reference and knowledge sharing.

10. Collaboration: Work closely with developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to troubleshoot database-related issues, provide technical guidance, and support application development and deployment efforts.

Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

· Proven experience as a PostgreSQL Database Administrator or similar role in a production environment.

· In-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture, configuration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.

· Proficiency in SQL and database query optimization techniques.

· Experience with database backup and recovery solutions, including point-in-time recovery (PITR) and disaster recovery planning.

· Familiarity with database security best practices and regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).

· Strong scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation and task orchestration.

· Experience with database migration, replication, clustering, and high availability solutions (e.g., PostgreSQL replication, Patroni, Pgpool-II).

· Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

· PostgreSQL certification (e.g., PostgreSQL Certified Administrator) is must.

· Experience with other database technologies (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB) – Good to have

· Knowledge of cloud platforms and database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL, Azure Database for PostgreSQL).

· Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform).

· Experience with performance monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g., pg_stat_statements, pgBadger, pg_top).

● Create and maintain optimal Data Lake setup.

● Assemble large and complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.

● Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.

● Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL.

● Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.

● Experience building and optimizing ‘big data’ data pipelines, architectures and data sets.

● Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.

● Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management.

● Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable ‘big data’ data stores.

● Strong project management and organizational skills.

● Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.

Technical Expertise

• Experience with Data Analytics services like EMR, Glue, Athena, Kinesis, MSK, Elasticsearch, Quicksight and Redshift.
• Experience with Data lake setup and Data warehouse on AWS/GCP.
• Experience with big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Hive etc.
• Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including Postgres and Cassandra.
• Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools: Azkaban, Luigi, Airflow, etc.
• Experience with stream-processing systems: Storm, Spark-Streaming, etc.
• Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Scala, etc.

● Exploring, analyzing and visualizing data to gain an understanding of it.

● Maintaining Data quality on different types of datasets.

● Supervising the data acquisition process if more data is needed

● Defining Model validation strategies

● Defining the preprocessing or feature engineering to be done on a given dataset

● Data augmentation pipelines

● Training models and tuning their hyperparameters

● Analyzing the errors of the model and designing strategies to overcome them.

● Defining the A/B testing setups. Deploying and maintaining the MLOps pipelines.

Technical Expertise:

● Hands on experience on TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, Caffe,Supervised Machine Learning Algorithms,Deep Learning Models (CNN, RNN, LSTM, BERT, NLU and YOLO), Cloud Platforms (AWS/GCP)

● Experience in Data Wrangling and PySpark(Good to have knowledge over EMR and Glue)

● Excellent skills developing in Python as well as significant experience working in a Linux environments.

● Experience with containerizing applications using Docker

● Experience in SQL and at least one NoSQL data store Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Cassandra, HBase

● Experience in handling branch based deployments.

Good to Have:

● Knowledge over MLFlow and Kubeflow.

● Optimization of Multipe GPUs.
