Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Sofa Maker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of sofa frame construction, upholstery, fabric cutting, and finishing. This role involves leading production processes, mentoring junior team members, and ensuring that all sofas are built to the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Construct high-quality sofas from frame to finish, including cutting, assembly, padding, and upholstery.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, patterns, and measurements with precision.
- Select appropriate materials such as wood, foam, springs, and fabric/leather for each sofa model.
- Supervise and guide junior sofa makers and apprentices.
- Inspect finished products for quality, ensuring they meet company standards and client specifications.
- Collaborate with design and production teams to develop and improve sofa designs.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and workspace to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
- Troubleshoot production issues and propose solutions for continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in sofa or upholstery manufacturing.
- Exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with upholstery tools and equipment (staple guns, sewing machines, foam cutters, etc.).
- Strong understanding of different sofa construction methods and materials.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and work on your feet for extended periods.
- Team player with strong communication and leadership skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent; formal training in furniture making or upholstery is a plus.
