Responsibilities • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Ruby code • Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems • Help maintain code quality, organization and automatization • Develop new user-facing features • Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs • Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability • Assure that all user input is validated before submitting to back-end Skills and Qualifications • Experience with Ruby on Rails, along with other common libraries such as RSpec and Resque • Good understanding of the syntax of Ruby and its nuances • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming • Ability to integrate multiple data sources and databases into one system • Able to implement automated testing platforms and unit tests • Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS3 • Basic understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS • Proficient understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including jQuery • Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX • Basic knowledge of image authoring tools, to be able to crop, resize, or perform small adjustments on an image.
