About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Developer with deep expertise in building scalable, high-performance applications. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, and distributed systems. You will play a key role in designing and optimizing APIs, architecting robust systems, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems using Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices architecture.
• Build and optimize APIs for large-scale applications ensuring high performance and reliability.
• Apply clean coding principles, SOLID design patterns, and clean architecture to deliver maintainable and robust code.
• Work with distributed systems technologies (Kafka, ELK, in-memory databases, Cassandra, or similar).
• Write efficient SQL queries and integrate with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and other developers to define and align on technical decisions.
• Identify and solve complex problems with innovative and scalable solutions.
• Drive best practices in coding standards, system design, and performance optimization.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly across teams and stakeholders.

Skills & Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience as a Backend Developer.
• Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, SQL.
• Significant experience in API design and optimization for enterprise-scale applications.
• Proficiency in distributed systems & related technologies (Kafka, ELK, in-memory DBs, Cassandra, etc.).
• Strong understanding of object-oriented engineering principles (SOLID, clean architecture).
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and align teams.

Experience and Expertise

● 7– 10 years of experience in backend development with Python or Golang.

● Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.

● Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and OOPS principles.

● Hands-on experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.

● Familiarity with Linux development, Docker, and basic cloud concepts

(AWS/GCP/Azure).

● Proficiency with Git and version control workflows.

● Familiarity with AI-powered development tools or exposure to projects involving large

language models (LLMs) is a plus.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience
• Strong computer science fundamentals
• Deep and wide knowledge of Python ecosystem
• Can write code that is readable, maintainable, secure and performant
• Know the importance of tests and how to approach writing different types of tests
• Good intuition for REST API design
• Deep understanding of relational databases, transactions, entity-relationship modeling
• Comfortable writing highly concurrent systems
• Experienced in using profilers, tuning garbage collection, optimizing SQL queries

About the role: In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end development of software solutions related to banking, payments, investments, wallets, and other fintech products. You will work closely with software engineers, test engineers, researchers, designers, and the management team.

• Be highly experienced in Golang. So, if you have at least 1 year of active golang development experience, we want you!
• Have a good understanding of the MVC framework and also proficiency in using advanced JavaScript libraries and frameworks such as ExpressJS, FastifyJS and other backend and frontend frameworks
• Understand and experience with cloud technologies: AWS (Must have) and Azure.

• Take an active part in the design process of the architecture of the mobile application
• Maintain quality and ensure responsiveness of applications
• Collaborate with the rest of the engineering team to design and launch new features
• Maintain code integrity and organization
• Working with the design team to convert designs to visual elements
• Implement security and data protection systems and processes to ensure information security compliance
• Oversee full software development lifecycle for the product

Our client is a rapid growth stage Edtech start-up focused on solving the teacher shortage crisis in the US education system using technology by bringing teachers to the classrooms and giving them access to the right tools to teach students in a highly engaging manner.

They have a development center in Mumbai and they are looking to scale up the teams in Pune and Bangalore as well.

What does the role entail:

● Lead User Stories and guide senior/software engineers in the development process

● Understand architecture principles, design patterns and implement them from architectural artifacts.

● Provide effort estimation of assigned work and be able to complete as per the estimations and timelines

● Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code including unit tests and integration tests to ensure software quality

● Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements, design solutions, and implement new features

● Participate in design and code reviews

● Ability to resolve performance issues

● Mentor junior software engineers and help them grow their technical skills

Must Have Skills:

● B.E/B.Tech in computer science

Must understand full stack development frameworks including knowledge of building scalable APIs, interfaces, software components, schema design, availability, and latency preferably in a cloud environment.

REQUIRED

• 8+ years of industry experience with 2+ years of senior leadership experience.

• Deep understanding of one or more of Java/Python/Scala. Ability to understand and critique the core library/language constructs with skilled knowledge on UI technologies like Angular 2+, React, D3.JS
• Working experience with Agile methodologies and durable team concepts.
• Knowledge in DevOps practices and tools.
• Knowledge in Cloud Technologies, CI/CD, Jenkins, Testing methodologies is preferred.
• Experience in server-side services using ElasticSearch, Kafka
• A strong track record of project delivery for large, cross-functional, projects and bringing in and growing engineering talent

• 3-5 years of experience in building highly scalable backend systems.
• Fluency or understanding of specific languages, such as JAVA, Operating System may be required, and Experience in Databases such as MySQL or Postgre SQL
• Strong understanding of Computer Science Fundamentals, Data Structures and Algorithms, SOLID Design Principles, and REST Patterns.
