The best way, hands-down, is just going out and doing it, even without someone to teach you. Having to figure it out yourself will teach you so much more.

I'd suggest something like this:
  • Launch and configure an EC2 instance utilizing their 1 year free trial
  • Host something simple like a blog (Wordpress or roll-your-own)
  • Slowly integrate other AWS services, but not too many at once so you don't get in over your head.
    • Add S3 for hosting images/files.
    • Add CloudFront for delivering assets via their CDN.
    • Add Glacier for storing backups.
When you get to each step, try to figure it out yourself, and only when you get stuck should you look for resources to help you through it. When you've mastered management via the AWS console, try doing it from the API. Launch instances, upload files to S3, etc. This skill will become really valuable at larger companies.
