Application Developer Job Brief
We are looking for an application developer to create and maintain our internal and external software applications. You will work closely with our development team in this role to design, develop, test, and deploy software solutions. As an application developer, you will be responsible for the entire software development life cycle, from requirements gathering to deployment and maintenance.
You will need a strong understanding of various programming languages and databases and experience in web and desktop application development.
Application Developer Responsibilities
- Designing and developing high-volume, low-latency applications for mission-critical systems and delivering business value through software products.
- Solving complex performance problems and architectural challenges.
- Working with business analysts to understand end-user requirements, then translating those requirements into technical specifications.
- Designing, coding, testing, and documenting new features and functionality.
- Investigating and resolving defects raised by users or system testing.
- Collaborating with other team members to brainstorm new features and potential solutions to problems.
- Supporting and fixing production issues.
- Research new technologies and trends and present these findings to the team.
- Working with other developers, quality assurance engineers, business analysts, product managers, and operations staff.
- Fix bugs discovered by our Quality Assurance team or users of our applications.
Application Developer Requirements
- Must have a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in Java development (or a similar programming language).
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming concepts.
- Familiarity with microservices architecture and 12-factor app principles.
- Proficient in SQL databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
