At ION, we’re building a layer of infrastructure for electric mobility in Asia with a focus on India. Mass adoption of electric vehicles will happen only when a ‘No-Compromise’ switch from Gasoline to Electric is facilitated through high performance Lithium-Ion batteries. To aid this adoption, we must decouple costs of these expensive yet efficient batteries from the ownership of host applications. With a team of engineers from Stanford, Penn State and IIT we’re building a solution in stealth that significantly increases performance while reducing the upfront investment.
Embedded Hardware Engineer Gem Technologies is an Indian consumer electronics company recently founded on March 8, 2017. It specializes in wearable technologies that utilize IOT concepts with a strong focus on security. Gem’s wearables devices will come in multiple forms and are unique in design and concept. They plan to release two smartwatches in the recent future. Any more information is kept under wraps and will be made available at the earliest time. As the Embedded Hardware Engineer at GEM, you will work on seamless interfacing of the OS and the Firmware with the hardware design and modules. Key Responsibilities: Produce innovative designs with consumer appeal to meet quality targets, and size, performance, cost and time to market Lead the hardware design for products, working closely with an interdisciplinary team Help define product features at ideation stages through definition lock Define EE architecture and execute EE product development through the entire life cycle Responsible for component selection, schematic capture, layout oversight, bringup, and debug Define test criteria, draft test plans for internal or remote teams Drive technology investigation projects to prepare new features and technologies for use in future products Technical Requirements: Experience of launching high volume electronics products, especially low power platforms In depth knowledge of batteries, power supplies, displays, touch, wireless protocols, RF & antennas, MCUs, signal integrity, mixed signal analog & audio, power management, biometric sensors Understanding of the PCB design process and tools experience with Cadence or Altium products Proficiency with EE lab instruments and their use in verification and troubleshooting Experience with ODM, JDM, or CM models of product development. Comfortable with managing outsourced engineering support teams as well as full local design responsibility Product launch experience with high speed memory busses, displays, inertial sensors, high-sensitivity analog systems, or Bluetooth, wifi, and GNSS radios. Able to capture desired user needs and produce and refine innovative solutions to deliver them Programming experience using Python or C Team Requirements : Team Player - Works well with team, be it reviewing other’s work or taking in critical feedback. The Role Hardware design engineering requires and offers a very high level of collaboration with firmware and mechanical engineers. You’ll be responsible for hands-on design and development, architecting, lab testing, and troubleshooting all control boards and electronics. Responsibilities Start to finish ownership of control boards and other electronics – from specification to design, prototype, and manufacturing. Collaborative work with mechanical, digital control, thermal design, and manufacturing test engineers. Product level electrical design including component selection, branch circuit design and insulation coordination. Required Skills BS or higher degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering (IIT/BITS/International preferred). 2 or more years of demonstrated successful experience in PCB layout for minimal stray inductance and capacitance, placement strategies for better manufacturability, power/signal plane definition and EMC optimization. Familiarity with PCB design softwares (e.g., Altium, OrCAD) Experience in hardware engineering within a product design and mass manufacturing environment. Experience in selection and use of microcontrollers, and programmable logic devices and their peripheral circuitry (signal conditioning, board-level power supplies).
