UI/UX Designer

Founded by an IIT alum and Investment Banker, Pepkidz Learning is an Ed-Tech platform for imparting essential skills like E.Q. (emotional quotient) and Personality development to enable students to fuel their success and make them realize their full potential. We are a team of 30 and rapidly expanding with multiple roles open for hire. 

We’re looking for a creative, multi-disciplinary, and high-producing Graphic Designer to join PepKidz’s growing Team. This role will start out as work-from-home and then be based out of our office in Bangalore, India (post-restrictions). You’ll use your experience to create visually appealing designs that span multiple mediums. Primarily focused on creating the brand guidelines, establishing the brand aesthetic, building and managing a team, this role requires a self-starter who understands the scope of working in an early-stage startup and will also ensure a unified output from the whole team. This role spans marketing and curriculum.  

As someone who is joining to lead the design team of an early-stage startup, you will have the reign and freedom to scale and build your team as you see fit. • Create compelling graphics that follow PepKidz’s brand guidelines for traditional and digital mediums, including but not limited to, PepKidz’s curriculum, websites, social media channels, email campaigns, marketing programs, knowledgebase, training platform, presentations, videos, print material, and events

• Hire, Manage and scale the design team under your guidance and ensure the brand’s aesthetic is followed and maintained throughout different channels

• Respond quickly and work efficiently to manage incoming day-to-day graphic requests to support marketing programs including small illustrations, email headers, email body graphics, social media posts, WhatsApp posts, blog headers, handouts/flyers, print work, etc.

• Work with other Designers to ensure the PepKidz’s brand is consistently represented across all designs

• Utilize strong communication skills to engage with cross-functional team members to effectively collaborate and solicit feedback

• Incorporate constructive feedback from stakeholders into designs

• Apply industry best practices and stay on-top-of trends to keep the brand fresh and forward-facing

• 6+ years of design experience in a fast-paced environment of a startup, specifically Ed-Tech will be preferred

• A college degree or  diploma in graphic design, integrated marketing communications, or a related field

• Strong understanding of design principles and marketing design fundamentals

• Proficient in a Mac/Windows environment with advanced experience using the Adobe Creative Suite/Cloud including Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop

• 2-D Animation experience

• Extensive experience creating graphics for social media

• Strong illustration background with demonstrated examples. 2D Animation.

• Experience in EdTech/Consumer-facing startups

• Candidates must provide a portfolio that showcases their best work

• Show us how you can adapt your illustration style by creating an Instagram post if you qualify for the first round

• Providing creative direction for visual design 
• Creating processes to improve quality & streamline work for the UI design team in collaboration with UX designers, PMs, technology and QA.
• Growing, managing & mentoring a diverse team of UI designers, graphic designers & illustrators
• Conceiving a robust creative vision and executable strategy for the UI design function in close collaboration with the product, UX & Agile engineering teams
• Being an integral part of the creation, implementation, and company-wide application of a design system
• Coaching & inspiring the visual design team to understand, define & measure the impact of their creative vision
• Having a user-centric approach to your work and assist in the inculcation of a design thinking culture within the organization

We are looking for a Motion Graphic Designer, with up-to-date tool subject knowledge and trends, to design solutions with high visual impact.

Roles And Responsibilities

• Ability to understand complex products and convert to graphical representations within timelines while maintaining quality
• Create videos from concept to production. Should be able to ideate, storyboard, script, and illustrate animate the video
• Create gif banners, motion graphics, social media short videos, product explainer videos, presentations, etc.
• Understand the product(s) to capture the essence as well as understand the target audience to capture their interest.

What We Are Looking For

• Freshers or 1 year Experienced Candidate
• Proficient with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere Pro
• Strong digital design background
• Strong portfolio to showcase creativity and ability to tell stories through illustrations, videos, motion graphics, and - - editing skills
• Creative, ownership driven and has communication presentation skills.

We believe there are few levers as powerful as design by which we can impact a product, a company or the world. We are looking for a Magician UI/UX designer who can wave their Elder wand and clean up the inconsistencies in the app, weave their magic and take Walrus to the next level.

What you’ll do:

• You will lead the UI/UX design and play a major part in strengthening the design centered culture in the company.
• Develop and conceptualize a comprehensive UI/UX design strategy in collaboration with product managers and designers for the app.
• Produce high-quality UX design solutions through wireframes, visual and graphic designs, flow diagrams, storyboards, site maps, and prototypes.
• Test UI elements such as CTAs, banners, page layouts, page designs, page flows, and target links for landing pages.
• Collaborate with the product team to ensure the creation and delivery of tailored experiences for the user.
• Adhere to style standards on typography and graphic design.
• You depend on user-centric critical analysis and problem-solving
• Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps
• Develop UI mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites function and look like
• Create original graphic designs (e.g. images, sketches and tables)
• Prepare and present rough drafts to internal teams and key stakeholders
• Identify and troubleshoot UI/UX problems across the app and come up with solutions (e.g. responsiveness)

Ideal candidate:

• 3+ years of experience in designing products in product-first companies and have a strong portfolio
• Have expertise with design tools (e.g. Sketch, Figma, Illustrator, After Effects) to produce wireframes, high fidelity mockups and illustrations with attention to detail.
• You believe in craftsmanship and create elegant and compelling designs, over and over.
• You have a strong passion for designing innovative designs and setting the new bar for the design ecosystem
• You've weathered release cycles and know what details matter at each stage, how to motivate engineers to get the fit and finish right, how to translate insights from user studies into meaningful action, and what's most likely to go afoul at each stage. You can share several shining examples of real work you've shipped, and what you learned along the way.
• You're a product manager's secret weapon. You thrive best when helping to define the requirements, not just translating them into designs. You facilitate and draw the best design ideas from teammates.
• You substantially contribute to defining the 'what' as well as the 'how'.
