Ather is hardware start-up based out of Bangalore, building India’s first smart electric scooter, the Ather S340. Designed in-house and built ground-up, the S340 is a high performance electric scooter powered by a lithium-ion battery pack, has a touchscreen dashboard and a host of smart features.
Ather is backed by Flipkart founders Sachin & Binny Bansal, Tiger Global and recently raised a Series B funding of Rs. 205 Cr from Hero MotoCorp.
Multiple prototypes of the S340 are currently being tested across various parameters and should be hitting manufacturing next year. The overall strength of the company is 150 comprising majorly engineers. Ather hires all through the year for various positions across the company.

Obviously we look for the cliched stuff - passion and those sort of stuff. However we think it makes sense for us, and definitely for you, for us to throw some light on what we mean by these terms.
Passion: translated to crazy obsession to your work - We look out for people who are crazily passionate about work. Be it an engineer, designer, marketeer or the in-house cook who we will hire in the near future. If you love what you do it’s not a job anymore. And when it’s not a job, you pour your heart into it, own what you are building indirectly acquiring freedom to call your own shots to make things better and obviously be what they call self-motivated.
Let’s be honest. Work is tough and demanding. We like to talk to people who understand their responsibilities, can deliver and don’t need a wake up call every alternate week. This one is non-negotiable.
Intelligence translated to domain knowledge/technical capability. We are building the S340 from a scratch. A lot of things at a sub-system level are stuff most people wouldn’t have worked on for years. That’s okay. About Khethworks Khethworks builds reliable, solar-powered irrigation systems that enable small-plot farmers to cultivate year-round. There are over 30 million farmers who tend to an acre or less of land in east India, where 60 percent of renewable groundwater is unused and agriculture-grade electricity is patchy. As the senior electronics designer at Khethworks, you will be responsible for the brains of the irrigation system. In order to effectively design the system and controllers, you will need to be able to deeply understand the entire mechatronics system, including tradeoffs between the battery, motor, and solar panel performances and sizing. From laying out the system’s architecture to refining the microprocessor controls, you are the expert that makes water flow from the pump at each flip of the switch. You will work with the outside team to ensure the design and the end units meet the desired functional requirements, which you will set. What will I be working on ? The S340 is built from scratch and hence our subsystems didn’t come to us with all issues resolved. With our first product, we’d want to give failure rates a miss - that’s why your role is critical. You will be responsible for design, analysis and extensive testing (in terms of endurance, EMI/EMC and thermals) of integrated automotive sub-systems. In a typical day, you would conduct root-cause-analysis of a complex interactive system, identifying source of problem/failure and deliberating and testing potential solutions with respective design teams. On other days you would co-ordinate testing of all new features/subsystems, design basic circuits for test and collaborate with various design teams to come up with integration test plan. What kind of experience & skills do I need for this role? You are ready to be a team player, driven by results, eager to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial company. That’s table stakes. What will I be doing at Ather? We won’t ever be able to roll out the S340 into the market without somebody like you onboard. The S340 is one of the first high performance electric scooters in the country and is designed from scratch. As you would know designing a new platform has its own opportunities and challenges. You will play a key role to ensure that the S340 offers an uncompromised ride experience on the road. In short you will be responsible for extensive testing in terms of endurance, EMI/EMC and thermals of integrated automotive sub-systems. What will I be working on ? The S340 is a great concoction of multiple high-speed processors, memories, power system, and multiple communication systems (including wireless). Seamless integration of these designs into the overall product immaculately is a task that several engineers are on, and we’re looking for a team lead to guide them in this journey. Handhold the designs from requirement, to prototype and onto the final production ready system - that’s what’s on your plate in this role. Add to that, collaboration with the product team and other cross functional teams to bring the product to life. Coordinating these project activities such that they are delivered as per commitments. Developing schematics, supporting PCB designers on PCB layout design. Board bring up. Functional testing, debugging and root causing of issues. Supporting the development cycle including writing requirements, standards, manuals, test procedures and test reports. Support other cross functional teams during application testing and debug. What kind of experience & skills do I need for this role? You’re probably leading a team of 5 to 10 people in your career of 5+ years. Conversations on microprocessors, microcontrollers, wireless semiconductors, regulators, standard digital logic ICs, and discrete semiconductors seem comfortable. Multimeters, Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer, Network analyzer and power supplies seem like your ideal playing kits.
